Anti-Counterfeiting Packaging to Rise
According to Smithers Pira, the global market for anti-counterfeit and security packaging will rise from 2019 to 2024 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.4% – totalling $4bn.
The growth is attributed to counterfeiters changing their focus to online products, the rise of e-commerce, improved digital security features, and increased collaboration from stakeholders.
Track and trace technologies are the fastest growing anti-counterfeit technologies.
“There is a need for new alliance with technology providers,” said Smithers Pira in its new report. “There will be shifts in the type of security solution needed, and more [integrated] multi-function anti-counterfeiting features.”
The report concluded, “The digitalisation of logistics and e-commerce trade is also posing a challenge for manufacturers of physical security components of how to form a link to the online world.”
