HP Indigo Inks Certified for Compostable Packaging

HP Indigo’s digital printing inks have been certified for compostability in accordance with leading standards like EU regulation EN 13432.

“Demand for sustainable packaging solutions is driving converters to digital printing, allowing converters and brands to help significantly lower the environmental impact of printing,” said HP Indigo’s general manager Alon Bar-Shany.

TUV Austria, authorised by European Bioplastics, awarded the “OK Compost Home” and “OK Compost Industrial” marks to HP, signifying that the Indigo’s inks can be used for compostable material in both home and industrial settings.

The certification signifies that the inks comply with the requirements of the EU Packaging Directive.

The certification comes as Grandview Market Research predicts that the sustainable packaging market will reach $237.8 billion (approximately £189.3 billion) by 2024.
