Nestle Renews Recyclable Packaging Pledge

Global food and confectionary brand Nestlé has renewed its pledge to make 100% of its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.

The scheme, first announced in January 2019, echoes similar pledges by other leading brands – such as Tesco and ASOS – to utilise more recyclable materials, including recyclable plastics, in packaging.

Nestlé has already invested $30 million into its scheme, including a food-grade recyclable plastics scheme in the U.S. It states that currently 87% of its packaging is already recyclable or reusable.

Nestlé also announced that it is advocating for the design of affordable mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility schemes, having identified 20 countries where it will support recycling rates and waste management infrastructure.
