The Printing Charity Continues to Expand

The Printing Charity has announced it has broadened its support, supporting a third more people in 2018 from 2017.

Speaking at The Printing Charity’s AGM in London, chair Jon Wright announced that the organisation assisted 34% more individuals in 2018, a total of 1,737 overall.

832 people were helped by the charity’s education initiatives, including the winners of the Print Futures awards. Meanwhile, 197 people were given help finding work after redundancy.

Guest speaker Lauren Powell, a 2018 Print Future Award winner, commented, “With Print Futures, we provide the single largest awards programme for young people in the sector, presenting the diverse roles and skills in print that we do need to talk about. It is essential to shine that light and share those stories, which is getting increasingly possible as our alumni group is growing.

“Our mission in its simplest sense is to make people’s lives better and if we can come into work and have a day supporting people through challenging times, while celebrating those that are doing well, then that is a good day for us.”

The Printing Charity’s plans for the future include development to the organisation’s phoneline service after feedback from beneficaries revealed it was a key service.
