Designing Products for Global Delivery

The Secret to Designing Products for Global Delivery

Ebi is unique. Along with an in-house print division, we also take care of design, prototyping, fulfilment and delivery – all under one roof. Unlike other print houses, this gives us a unique insight into an element of design and print not often considered: creating products and packaging that are optimised for worldwide delivery.

During delivery, packaging that has not been designed with the journey in mind can often be damaged by the elements, by a longer-than-expected journey or simply by the rough and tumble of delivery itself.

Why Does Delivery Matter in Design?

Packaging does not exist outside of other influences. Does it need to be durable, and last for a long time without losing its structure or shape? Will it be facing material-warping weather conditions like rain, snow or frequent sunlight? Will it be able to withstand falls or bumps against other items during delivery?

The same is true for products inside of the packaging. This is particularly true of products primarily meant to be sold online, where the price of shipping matters to consumers. Shipping for fragile or perishable products is often more expensive, so it’s vital to make products as hardy and durable as possible.

Taking care of print and packaging design in-house means that our experts are able to select the most durable and long-lasting materials and finishes available, for products that can withstand the journey. Get in touch with us to find out how we can optimise your products for global shipping.
