Why Are Marketers Turning from Digital to Traditional Methods?
Digital marketing is often seen as a replacement for traditional marketing methods – but statistics show that traditional marketing methods, such as direct mail, are making a comeback.
The 28th edition of the CMO Survey, which examines digital marketing trends and insights, predicted an increase in traditional marketing spend in 2022, with B2C companies predicting the largest increase for services (10.2%) and products (4.9%).
The prediction holds true even for e-Commerce companies – despite earning 100% of their sales online, they predict an 11.8% increase in traditional marketing spend over the next 12 months.
The predictions follow the news that 85% of consumers regularly open and read direct mail, according to a survey by Lob.
The 2022 State of Direct Mail survey, which polled 150+ marketing leaders, also found that two-thirds of marketers agree that direct mail shows the best return on investment (ROI) of all channels, including digital marketing methods.
